Local Community involvement

The Foundation works closely with Nature Resorts to develop tours and activities that benefit the local people and the environment. Information signs as the one below were developed to educate tourists.

How our Tours & Activities Benefit the Local People and the Environment (1) We only use local fishermen boats for our Tours & Transfers, unlike other resorts, our resort does not own a single tour boat (2) The fishermen gets 70% of the cost of the Tours YOU purchase (3) The Resort gets 15% by providing the necessary equipments (Lifejackets, Snorkeling gear, and meals on the boat for the guests, boatman & guide) (4) The other 15% goes to pay for the TAT (Tourism) insurance and the necessary taxes.

Benefiting the Local People (1) Income from the Tours & Transfers go directly to the fishermen and their families (2) Teaches the locals alternative means to making a living other than fishing (3) Exposes the locals to foreigners to better understand and appreciate them more (4) Teaching the locals to be more responsible and take extra care for guests safety, providing proper insurance, abiding by government laws and regulations etc.

Benefiting the Environment As the environment provides a means of income to the local fishermen, through tours and activities, they take a more active role in protecting their livelihood. Our Wildlife Safari Tours brings about an appreciation for nature, and why we should conserve it.
